Tier 1 - High-Value Migrants

Highly value migrants, investors and exceptional talent people can apply under Tier 1 of the Points based system.  An advantage here is that you do not have to have a specific job offer but you must pass a Points Based Assessment

Tier 1 (Investors)

The investor category is designed to allow high net worth individuals to make a substantial financial investment in the United Kingdom.

Applicants do not need a job offer to apply under the investor category. You apply you are awarded points based on your ability to invest in the United Kingdom. The investment must be productive and generate wealth for the UK economy. There are no requirements to engage in business activities or to demonstrate proficiency in the English Language.

Grant of Leave

The Tier 1 Investor Visa is issued for an initial duration of 3 years. At the end of this period, you may apply to extend your leave to remain in the UK for further two years providing you meet the Tier 1 investor extension requirements.

You must score 75 points. There ae no maintenance or language requirements.

Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent)

Tier 1 Exceptional Category, is for people who are recognised or have the potential to be recognised as leaders in the fields of Science and Arts.

You must make your initial application for Tier 1 Exceptional Talent from abroad. You can only switch into this category if you are switching from a Tier 2 (General) or Tier 5 (Government Authorised Exchange) visa. When you have been in the UK for 3 years, you can apply to extend your stay here in this category. You also need to meet the English requirement.

For an initial application you must score 75 points.
